Space Battleship Yamato

You may or may not remember the animated TV series, “Space Battleship Yamato” (aka “Starblazers” in the U.S.), but the Japanese are quietly hatching a live action version that appears to be nearing completion. Even without giant Tokyo-stomping lizards, this one looks to be eye-pleasing fun for sci-fi, tokusatsu and anime fans.

Azureus Rising

Here’s a “proof of concept” CGI short which may or may not turn out to be yet another Hollywood sci-fi action flick. According to Director David Weinstein from Black Sun Entertainment, it is intended to be a new take on the classic Hamlet theme set in space. Except, you know, if Hamlet was a Space Ninja and didn’t talk so much.

War of the Worlds: Goliath

This winter or thereabouts will bring much love to fans of the steampunk genre in the guise of the new animated film War of the Worlds: Goliath. Set fourteen years after H.G.Well’s first Martian invasion, this movie promises so much eye-popping animated goodness I don’t think it even matters if it HAS a story.
